WHAT WE DO
Established in 2014, the Research Center on Violence at West Virginia University is dedicated to conducting research and publishing scholarly work to prevent and control violent behaviors.
The Center's researchers study some of the world's most compelling social problems, including sexual assault, physical violence against women, and homicide. In addition to interpersonal violence, the Center examines environmental crime, state-sponsored violence, and corporate violence against workers and consumers.
The Center hosts some of the world's leading experts on violence, partners with regional, national, and international communities and mentors doctoral students.
The Center's research informs progressive policies seeking to reduce violence in West Virginia and other parts of the United States. The Center seeks to produce useful information that can enhance people's health and well-being.
